We are delighted to share our updated Auction Catalog with you. We are extremely fortunate to have some very terrific auction donors. New "Art" and "Vacation" donations for the Silent Auction have been added.

Remember - you don't have to be present to BID and WIN! The catalog explains how our supporters who are unable to attend can participate in this FUN event.

GOOD REASONS TO PLAY GOLF!!

TEE OFF FOR RESCUE & HELP SAVE A LIFE

VGSR is in constant search for resources to pay for necessary and expensive treatments that many rescue dogs need. These are our "Special Needs" foster dogs. Sidney, shown right, is one such dog. She came into rescue 2/26/10 at 46#'s and gravely ill with only hours left to live and was immediatley taken by volunteers to the hospital. Rapid response saved her life; Sidney is on the road to full recovery - she still NEEDS YOUR HELP.

Lilly, shown left, is another one of the "Special Needs" dogs in VGSR care that needs more attention. She came into rescue abused, neglected, in pain and VERY pregnant. Her immediate needs were met and in the loving care of a volunteer foster, gave birth to 10 beautiful, healthy puppies. Lilly showed some discomfort in her hips and x-rays showed what appears to be a pellet or bullet fragment. Surgery had to wait until her pups were weaned and she was strong enough to have the procedure. Lilly is now ready to have the hip repaired and she NEEDS YOUR HELP.

The Third Annual Virginia German Shepherd Rescue Golf Tournament & Auction will provide funding to help these dogs and many others to fulfill their potential to be strong, healthy and loving dogs ready to be adopted into their "forever homes".

How can you help? Be a player, be a sponsor, donate an item to the auction, join us for dinner, take part in the auction. VGSR is an all volunteer, 501 (c)(3) corp and all proceeds go directly to the mission of rescue, rehabilitation and re homing of dogs in our care.

Be on the Lookout

We want to give a huge thank you to our wonderful VGSR volunteers and friends who pounded the pavement for donors and sponsors for last year's tournament and auction. It’s that time again. October is not far away. The dogs need you to bring in those great items so that this year’s auction can be bigger and better!

Items do NOT have to be dog or golf related. Anything with appeal which you think will bring in the BIDS is much appreciated!! If you like the item, chances are someone else will, also.

We would like to expand our Silent Auction, this year, to include more MUST BUY items which will not only bring $$ to help our dogs but will keep people coming back to VGSR events. The success of our auction depends on each of you.

Please bring in some great items for the upcoming auction, such as:
• Vacation or Travel Related Items (e.g., time share, hotel, resorts, your vacation home, airline tickets, day trips, or other);
• Fine Art and Collectibles;
• Gourmet Food Baskets and/or Catered Meals;
• Fine Wines and other Beverages (including wine tastings)
• Services (Professional Services; Catering; Photography; Pet related – including but not limited to pet sitting, walking, training, grooming);
• Classes (including but not limited to golf, cooking/baking, crafts, dance);
• Golf and Ski Items;
• Spa and Shopping Gift Certificates;
• Restaurant Gift Certificates;
• Long Term Goods Deliveries (e.g., weekly pizza delivery or flowers delivered from a local florist);
• Sunset or Afternoon cruises with appetizers;
• Jewelry (Silver, Gold, Gemstone, Handcrafted, Designer); and
• Themed Baskets.

Remember the auction, as you go shopping, to local fairs, take day trips or even go on vacation. Ask the various business owners if they would like to contribute an item or two to help our dogs. Use your contacts to help our dogs. Perhaps you are a craftsman or artist or have a friend or relative who is? What better way to share your talent and help our dogs???

We are getting off to a slow start - so the dogs really need each and every one of you to start thinking VGSR AUCTION.

The VGSR Annual Golf Tournament is a great opportunity for you to get out, help some dogs and have a great day. Be a PLAYER, a SPONSOR, and/or an Auction DONOR but please assist us with our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving, forever homes for wonderful and deserving dogs in need.

It’s a two way street. Sponsoring or donating is a win-win for everyone. As a Corporate Sponsor or Donor, not only do you have the satisfaction of knowing that your contribution is supporting a worthy cause and saving wonderful dogs, your involvement will demonstrate your community responsibility and allow you to build bigger networks into the community through exposure to the broad range of VGSR family, customers, players, businesses, etc. The value of the positive publicity resulting from exposure on the VGSR website, blog, signage at the tournament and various VGSR documentation is unmeasurable.

There are several sponsorship levels including the popular “Puppy Love” ($500) and “Best Friend ” ($100) levels. Sponsors will benefit from signage on the golf course. The bigger the sponsorship, the bigger the sign! Individual sponsors and silent auction donors are also needed (more to come on this).
