Ready, Set, Go .....

Plans are well underway for the 6th Annual VGSR Golf Tournament and Auction on Friday, October 4, 2013.

We have something for one and all -  golfers, shoppers, dog lovers, food aficionados, conversationalists and outdoor enthusiasts, to name a few. A fun  filled day is promised for everyone.  We’ve got a few tricks up our sleeves for this year’s event. Please join us and help raise funds for the German Shepherds and GSD mixes that we love so much.  This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we can't make it happen without your support.
Help us make this VGSR’s biggest fundraiser, ever!

Best Friend in Memory of Lars
Please consider being a Sponsor.  We offer various levels of sponsorship –from “Best Friend” ($100) to “Title” ($5000).  With the Best Friend sponsor your personalized sign will be on the Golf Course, the day of the event.  As the sponsorship levels go higher, additional benefits include one (or more) foursomes, larger signs, and media recognition.  Of course, each and everyone of our sponsors know that they have helped a dog and Shout Outs are shared on the VGSR "In Gratitude Page" and our blog site.  Walking the course and reading all the signs which often honor or are in memory of loved ones – friends, family or pets is an amazing experience.  The satisfaction of knowing that your donation has helped save a dog is enormous.  For more information on becoming a Sponsor, please read Sponsorship Levels.

Vacation Rental
We are also looking for Silent Auction Donations.  We’ve had some awesome Auction Items in past years and would love for this year’s Auction to surpass the previous ones.  Some of the donations that we would love to have include - Gift certificates for Travel, Vacation Rentals and Restaurants; Entertainment and Recreation Packages; Winery, Historic Home and Museum Tours; Photography

Wine Lover's Basket
and Art; Gift Cards for Store and Online purchases; Tickets for Sporting Events, Concerts, and Theatre; Antiques, Art, Autographed Items, Jewelry, Specialty Items, or any Unique Item.  Themed basket ideas include wine; pet; food; grilling; movie nights, sports, toys and games, electronics and gadgets.  Let your imagination soar and help us make the Auction a fun filled event.  Please complete an Auction Donation form to let us know that we can count on you!

Native American Treasures for Silent Auction!

HANDMADE SHAMAN DRUM FROM SQUAXIN ISLAND TRIBE

14" Diameter- Top of Drum

Bottom of Drum

Native American drums and shaman drums of the famous Squaxin Indians are rustic Native drums made by hand. The Squaxin are the native people of South Puget Sound, Washington State.  They are descendants of the maritime people who lived and prospered along these shores for untold centuries.    Because of their strong cultural connection with the water, they are also known as the People of the Water.

Shaman Native American drums sometimes called spirit drums or heart drums are made with a piece of native yellow pine or cedar bent into the shape of the drum. Thin goat ( or other animal) skin rawhide is stretched over one side, completely covering the drum ring to form a sturdy hand drum laced toward the four directions of the earth and forming a good hand hold on the back.  These drums typically sell for $150 or more.

Shaman drums and shamanism has come to be a general term used to refer to traditional beliefs and practices using a shaman’s drum and other instruments and articles by people, mostly men who claim the ability to cure human illness. Shamans have also said to be able to control things like weather which are beyond the control of ordinary men and such things as interpreting dreams. Shamanistic drumming practices using shaman drums is prevalent around the world and their drums have also been called healing drums or medicine drums.

STAR QUILT FROM SIOUX TRIBE IN SOUTH DAKOTA
